Moscow's International Book Fair: "Books Bring People Together by Igor Isachenko (3 photos of exhibition including entrance, Hans Lothar Schutz, Vladimir Igityan, and the Finish exhibit). Second International Book Fair takes place in two pavilions in Moscow Sept. 4–10, 1979. Over 2,000 firms from 75 countries display their works including 100,000 publications.

Publisher Boycotts Book Fair. Exchange of letters between Ramaz Mchedidze, first deputy director-general, Moscow International Book Fair and Robert L. Bernstein, chairman and president, Random House, Inc. about Berstein being denied a visa to  Russia.

Featured Artist Is Inspired by God. "The basis for my life," say Phantasm artist Brian Conery, "is the Bible and Jesus Christ as the center of my focus and direction. … My desires are to go into illustrating professionally and then maybe live in Europe." Phantasm artist Kinene Barzin enjoys calligraphing examples of medieval music as demonstrated in this issue.

True Gold Is of the Heart by Larry S. Jackson (two photos by author of Peter Orlovsky, Gary Snyder, and Nanao Sakaki, and Allen Ginsberg and a guitarist). Poets and friends of Nevada City, California, area resident Gary Snyder gather to raise money to preserve San Juan Ridge from mining destruction by giving readings and performance in the American Victorian Museum to 400 supporters.

Europe Is Extant in His Spirit (1 silhouette drawing reproduction by von W. The fiftieth anniversary of  Hugo von Hoffmannsthal's death is celebrated with a conference September 12–15, 1979, and with stories about the Austrian dramatist, poet, and essayist's life and what he has given the world.

Sacramento Songwriters Showcase by Martin Cohen (3 photos by René Warren: Les Haber, Terri New, Martin Cohen). Martin Cohen assembles a program of concerts for songwriters and which provides informational workshops on specific information valuable to songwriters.
