About the Authors
Dr. Roger Lederer is Professor Emeritus of Biological Sciences at California State University, Chico, whose expertise is ecology, science education, and ornithology. He has published over twenty scientific research papers and ten books, including
Ecology and Field Biology, Amazing Birds, The Birds of New England, Latin for Bird Lovers,
Beaks, Bones, and Bird Songs, and The Art of Birds. Dr. Lederer taught at the university level, served as the Dean of Natural Sciences, consulted governments, private organizations and schools on environmental issues, and presented hundreds of public presentations to a wide variety of audiences.
Dr. Carol E. Burr is Professor Emeritus of English at California State University, Chico, where she taught literature classes, created the Honors Program, served as English Department Chair, and directed the Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies. She edited and published
Unstill Lives: Women of Northern California and Feeling for Place and coauthored
Latin for Bird Lovers. She is also an artist and has worked in oil, watercolor, and charcoal. She drew the illustrations for
Birds of Bidwell Park, The Trees of Bidwell Park and The Wildflowers
of Bidwell Park using pen, pencil, and watercolor. She is involved in many local organizations such as the League of Women Voters, Soroptimist International, the Discovery Shop thrift store, and is the longest serving member of Bidwell Park's Ambassador's program.
The Wildflowers of Bidwell Park is the third of three in the series by Roger Lederer and Carol Burr. Their other two titles are The Birds of Bidwell Park and The Trees of Bidwell Park
